"It's hard to be dark and mysterious when you openly love your mom and dad so much... and have beautiful little sisters that
make me brighter than the sun shines in mid-summer heat waves." - Keaton

These words were taken from the memorial program at the services for Keaton on Lopez Island on May 30th, 2015:
Keaton Ezra Tyler Farris was born on June 6th, 1989 in Mt. Vernon, WA. He spent the first 16 years of his life on Lopez Island. He was an adventurous young boy who loved to role play, dress-up, garden with his mom, and spend time with many close friends.
He lived at "The Hummel House" with his mom, Tiffany, from ages 2-4; he considered Carol and Al to be another set of grandparents for him.
When Tiffany built a home within Coho with LCLT that became the place Keaton called home. As Keaton grew to be a bright and still adventurous young man, he developed a love for sports, especially football, basketball and track. He competed athletically throughout junior high and high school, where he was known for his speed and tenacity.
He was well known amongst his peers for his sense of humor and his caring and compassionate personality.
He spent his sophomore and junior years in HS in Coupeville with his dad, Fred, and step mom, Susan, and sisters, Vivian and Mia.
Keaton had a great love for his sisters and they adored their brother. He continued to excel athletically and began to develop a love for writing.
He returned to Lopez to spend his senior year with his lifelong friends, where he graduated in 2008.
He helped take the Lobos Boys Varsity Basketball team to their first State Championship Tournament and was a State Champion and 3 medal recipient at the WIAA State Track Meet.
As a young adult Keaton lived at his mom’s on Lopez, his dad’s in Coupeville, his Uncle Lou's in Redmond, and a few places in between. During this time he continued his writing and worked at Lopez Island Bicycle Works, The Islander Resort, Panda Express and various other odd jobs. He became known for his writings on social media, his ability to help others through tough times in their lives, and for that radiant smile.
Keaton's love to travel was sparked by his two trips to Kauai to visit his great friend Julian, and his parents, Lance and Lyndia, who were also great mentors to Keaton.
Along with writing and traveling Keaton loved to take walks on the beach, play pick-up basketball, hang out with his many friends, watch sports, play games, go to Jugglefest, attend family gatherings and play/read with his sisters.
Keaton planned to one day sail the world and live off the land while he continued to write.
Keaton is a son (to Tiffany, Fred and Susan), brother (to Vivian and Mia), nephew (to Lou, Tammy, Chad, Crockett, Kerrick, Della, Anne, Laura, Karen and Cale), grandson (to Vicki, Sandi, Merry, Fred, Tina, Tom and Pat) and a great friend (too many to list).
Keaton's smile, kind words and compassionate heart will be missed, his spirit will be with us forever.

Some of Keaton's social media quotes
"Thinking of lost friends. Dreaming of better days. Praying for mended souls and the healing of wounds; scars that will never fade. The universe is hard to make sense of from my tiny mortal perspective. It's like attempting to read a book with the equivalent of only a needle point visible at once. I think that's why faith is so powerful... And also so elusive." - Keaton Farris (Oct. 25, 2014)
"My little sisters are the only people that make sense in this convoluted, insane, and utterly wacky world. I love them so very much, it is impossible to express in words, or even actions. If only that pure and beautiful innocence lasted forever..

"Ahhh the sweet rhythmic sound of rain dancing atop a metal roof. Supplemented with peaceful background snores of a happy dog. Plus I've got my own personal feline to warm my lap and keep me company. Oh how I have missed you Lopez Island. It's good to be home." - Keaton Farris (April 19, 2014)
